Request / Schedule Rides
Call (860) 774-3902 to request rides 24 hours in advance. NECTD rides are scheduled on a first come, first served basis to ensure that eligible individuals have an equal chance to use the service. To request rides, call (860) 774-3902 between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
To help serve you better, we ask that you observe the following four (4) tips:
- Prepare for your call
- Have your trip information ready and organized
- Schedule the return trip at the same time
- Be ready to go at the scheduled time
Prepare for your call to schedule a ride:
- Name
- Date of travel
- Origin address
- Destination address
- Desired arrival time
- Desired pick-up time
- Whether you use a wheelchair or walker
- Whether a personal care attendant or a service animal will accompany you
The dispatcher will let you know your pick-up and return times, or may call back later with the times. NECTD will make every effort to schedule your trip at the desired times. Write down your pick-up and return times. This will help you remember them. If you have a calendar, write the times on it .
Vehicle Arrival Times for Pick Up
NECTD makes every effort to arrive as close to the scheduled pick-up time as possible. However, the vehicle may arrive up to 10 minutes before or 10 minutes after the scheduled pick-up time. This 20 minute period of time is defined as the "pick-up window" and passengers need to be ready to go anytime within that time period. Drivers, after arriving within that pick-up time period, can not wait after vehicle arrival. Any passenger who is not at their scheduled pick-up point and ready to go at that time will be left behind for the driver to continue with their other scheduled rides. Any passenger, who is not at their scheduled pick-up point and ready to go by that time, will be considered a “no-show”, and the driver will leave to pick up other riders. The driver will not return for a second attempt.
How to Cancel a Trip
If you change your mind or are unable to make your scheduled trip, please let the Dispatcher know as soon as possible, but at least two hours in advance of your scheduled pickup. If you do not cancel your trip at least two (2) hours in advance, it will be considered a "no show" (see "No Show" Policy) and could result in suspension of service. After-hours cancellations may be left on our answering machine.
