NECTD Schedule Changes

The Northeastern Connecticut Transit District (NECTD) is updating its routes and schedule appearances - effective November 7, 2016. The changes to the NECTD schedule are:

Each schedule will have a new appearance in an effort to make stops and times easier to read, accompanied by a visual map of each route. Each route will have color themed names coordinating with the visual maps. The new names are:
Green Line = Southern Loop; Blue Line = Northern Loop; Purple Line = South Shuttle; Red Line = North Shuttle.

Time and stop changes are as follows:
The Green Line (Southern Loop) will be stopping at Maple Courts every hour starting at 8:50am until 4:50pm. The Green Line will have extra stops in the afternoon at the Aldi’s plaza on Rt. 101 making it every hour from 1:15-4:15, with the last stop of the run being 5:10 at Killingly Commons. The afternoon Kohl’s plaza stops will be On Request Only (ORO).

The Purple Line (shuttle heading South) will end at 5:15 at Killingly Commons, with an On Request Only (ORO) stop at 5:20 at Main St. Exchange.

The Blue Line (Northern Loop) will end at 4:30 at Day Kimball Hospital.

Schedules are available by calling 860-774-3902 or go online at nectd.org. Schedules are also located at towns halls, libraries, health care providers and retailers. The District provides two types of service: deviated fixed route and dial-a-ride for elderly and disabled persons. The deviated fixed route service operates Monday - Sunday with various scheduled stops serving the towns of Brooklyn, Killingly, Putnam and Thompson. We provide Elderly and Disabled Services Monday - Friday for the towns of Brooklyn, Canterbury, Hampton, Killingly, Putnam, Thompson, Eastford, Plainfield, Sterling, Pomfret, Woodstock, and Union, which provides door-to-door service, available by reservation with NECTD.

The Northeastern Connecticut Transit District is the public transportation provider for northeastern Connecticut, available for all residents and visitors to our region. Rides are just $1 each way, or discount tickets available $10 for 15 rides.

Northeastern Connecticut Transit District Conducts Cross-State Bus Survey

In conjunction with the Central Massachusetts Metropolitan Planning Organization (CMMPO), Northeast Connecticut Transit District has launched a Public Transportation Needs Survey. The goal of the survey is to collect feedback and ideas about the need for a public transportation link between northeastern Connecticut and southcentral Massachusetts.

Northeastern Connecticut Transit District Updates Routes

The Northeastern Connecticut Transit District (NECTD) is updating its routes - effective January 11, 2016. The update is in response to the completion of the bridge at Cargill Falls in Putnam. During the reconstruction of the bridge NECTD had to institute several changes to its schedule to accommodate the detour caused by the construction. The changes to the NECTD schedule are:

  • Day Kimball Hospital stops will be added to the Shuttle Routes again. Stops there will be on the 50’s of the hour heading south (excluding 1:50 & 3:50), and on the 10’s heading north (excluding 3:10). The Northern Loop will be stopping at the hospital on the 30’s of the hour (excluding 1:30).
  • The Northern Loop will be adding stops at Generations, Little River Apartments, Bulger/ St. Onge Housing, Ella Grasso/ Dana Ct. Housing, Putnam Walmart, Stop & Shop/KMart, and Ring and Grove St. The times have changed for each stop on the Northern Loop so please take note.
  • The North Shuttle will have extra stops at midday starting at 12:35 at Brooklyn Walmart heading North to Thompson by 1:30. Schedules are available by calling 860-774-3902 or go online at nectd.org.
